Our Development Process

We provide churches with trusted partners, tools, and guidance to turn underutilized land into mission-aligned affordable housing. From early visioning to finding the right developer, Abundant Ground walks with you every step of the way:

  1. We begin with listening – Start by completing our intake form. We’ll schedule a conversation and may invite you to a Discernment Workshop to explore if housing development aligns with your congregation’s calling.

  2. We educate and equip – We meet with your leadership team to discuss your vision, share housing models, and explain the development process, financing options, and potential outcomes.

  3. We study your site’s potential – Our team conducts a feasibility study covering zoning, land value, funding sources, and site conditions. You’ll receive a summary outlining realistic options for development.

  4. We support your discernment – With feasibility data in hand, your church can prayerfully consider next steps. We help facilitate internal conversations, denominational engagement, and initial community outreach.

  5. We connect you with the right partners – If you’re ready to move forward, we help you draft an RFQ/RFP and vet mission-aligned developers. We remain involved through negotiations, design, and next steps as needed.

We bring a network of experienced architects, legal and finance professionals, and nonprofit developers—all committed to faith-rooted, community-serving development.

We don’t like to charge churches for this work. That’s why Abundant Ground relies on generous gifts and grants to provide expert guidance at little to no cost to congregations. Your support helps us walk alongside faith communities from discernment to development—ensuring their land is used to bless others.
